Tropy is a user-friendly, open-source software designed for organizing, annotating, describing, and managing archival research photos. Users can create metadata in any recognized schema; add custom fields, tags, notes, or other data; and perform other actions, such as grouping related photos into items and lists. In this workshop, participants will gain a solid understanding of Tropy and its functionality, whether for personal use or as a tool to recommend to researchers who may benefit from its features.
Tropy is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux at their website:
https://tropy.org/. Tropy is a local application, so there is no need to set up an account. For maximum benefit, participants should have their own laptop with the software installed, but it is not essential. Sample data will be provided.
